NYC’s Jalen Baby Boom Isn’t Really About Brunson. It’s About His Dad’s Old Teammate.

New York has a new favorite baby name, and you already know what it is.

Since the Knicks finally snapped a 53-year drought and Jalen Brunson walked off the Garden floor with a ring and a Finals MVP trophy, the city has been naming its newborns after Captain Clutch. City health department data reported by The City Reporter shows the number of babies named Jalen more than doubled from March through early October compared to the same stretch last year. Parents were literally picking the name in hospital rooms while the clinching game was still on TV. Let’s not forget little Knickson Fyve.

Cute story. But here’s the plot twist nobody’s talking about.

Lebron James To The Sixers Puts No Fear In My Heart

LeBron James has made his decision. He’s going back to the East, and he’s landing in Philadelphia with the 76ers.

As a lifelong Knicks fan, this moves put no fear in my heart. A 41 year old LeBron James trying to do what he’s done everywhere he’s gone: bring a championship to an organization. But that path runs straight through my Knicks.

But let’s be clear about something first. I am not a LeBron hater. I’m a Jordan hater. I’ve spent years hyping LeBron up, sometimes irrationally, purely to annoy Jordan stans. That hasn’t changed.

This, though, this means war

I can never take away what LeBron has accomplished. Nobody can. But this move hurts his legacy in my eyes. Another All-NBA co-star. Another super team. That’s the LeBron playbook, and I know it well. And no, I’m not saying Jordan never had help. But come on, LeBron. This is egregious.

His camp made it sound like New York was always the dream, that he’d have come to the Knicks if we hadn’t just won it all. Well, you couldn’t handle the biggest market in the world. So now you’re in Philly, at the arena that’s going to get taken over by Knicks fans the second we show up in the playoffs. You settled for MSG south.

Good. Bring it on.

As a Knicks fan, I live for this. I’m hoping we open the season against Philly at the Garden, so LeBron and the 76ers can watch us raise our banners in person, in the building they’ll have to go through to win a championship of their own.

That’s going to be an epic night.

LeBron can stack his roster with a former MVP and All-NBA stars. It won’t matter. He will never accomplish the one thing that actually separates legends in this league: winning a championship in New York City. He’s ducked this city his whole career. He’s never had the nerve to play in the Mecca, and now he wants to call it his favorite building to play in.

Well, now you get to play in it. And you already know what’s coming.

Look forward to playing you. We look forward to beating you.

As always, Knicks in five.

The Nostalgia of the Hardwood: Ranking the NBA’s Most Forgotten Throwback Jerseys

Does anyone else remember when sports jerseys were the only thing anyone wore? During the late ’90s and early 2000s, the throwback jersey became the essential staple of streetwear and hip-hop culture.

Back then, the hunt for the rarest jersey was a lifestyle. I still remember the feeling of finally tracking down a Pistol Pete Maravich jersey. Paired with white and blue Air Force 1s, a crisp long white tee, and a matching fitted cap, the fit was untouchable. You couldn’t tell me anything.
